Dear Sir

I beg to thank Mr. Rothschild² & yourself for sending me the papers on the birds of Baly, Lombok, Tomboro, Sumba, & other islands.

It is very interesting to me to read these notes on places & one of which I visited 40 years ago, while others I was at that time unable to reach.

Sumba is especially interesting to me, and I cannot help thinking [2] that a longer visit to the forest districts of the island at the proper season would produce many ^more novelties both in birds and insects.

I am pleased to find that although to many additions have been made to the birds of both Bali & Lombok the broad facts of distribution as indicated by myself remain almost as marked as ever.
