Letter (WCP845.1017)

[1]1

Frith Hill, Godalming.

Sept[embe]r 22nd 1887.

My dear Flower

I am indeed very sorry that any thing in my article should be thought unfair by you. I now see it is open to misconceptions but having never seen a proof you will perhaps excuse my somewhat strong and inconsiderate language. The accompanying letter to "Nature" explains my meaning more fully. If you think there is anything else I ought to say let me know your wishes & return the letter — if [2] not please post it to "Nature" where it will appear in the next issue.

Believe me | Yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace[signature]

Prof. W.H. Flower. F.R.S.

Text, possibly differing from the hand of A. R. Wallace and the ink of the letter, reads "93" in the bottom, right-hand corner of the page.
