Broadstone, Dorset
March 3rd. 1904
My dear Will1
I enclose you Dresser’s2 letter just received. As he is at head-quarters now, he will no doubt do as well as Sir W. Preece3, & will let you know if anything turns up. You had better keep his letter.
I enclose 2 newspaper cutt[in]gs which may amuse you.
I have just got from Thomas Sims4 a large bundle of old letters, wills, &c. with some drawings by me [2] and one or two by William5, which I thought were lost, which will help me with "the book6." Today I am writing to Somerset House to search for the Will of James Wallace7 (father of Admiral James Wallace8) which will probably decide if he is my great-grandfather, as, if William Wallace of Hansworth9 was his son, he is sure to be mentioned in the will.
In haste | Your affectionate Pa | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
[3] P.S.
Dresser is partner in some great Iron Company & I suppose is looking after some work or supplies of the Admiralty. No news from Sleigh yet?
