Ermington, Dorchester.
June 23rd [19]04
Dear Sir
I much regret to have to tell you that Mr Albert Bankes of Wolfeton in Dorchester, told me today that Mr Bankes of K. Lucas is much too ill to attend to any business of any kind. I must therefore [2] give up all hopes of going to Badbury Rings.
I was most careful what I said to Mr A Bankes & I told D C Marsh today what I did[?] say & he thinks I couldn’t have done better, as I daren’t make the matter too urgent or important.
I will let you know where I do go & if I find anything of interest I will write in [3]1 the hope of perhaps some of you being able to pay me a visit.
I am so vexed about this but perhaps I may have another chance.
Believe me | Yours v[ery] truly | Charles S. Prideaux [signature]
