My dear Will1
Enclosed just received from Mr. Neale. The Mr. Teasdale who is leaving does so I suppose to get an independent position, as I should think he can hardly have less than £300 for Chief Assistant at Cardiff. But I suppose you would accept even at £250 as there would be good chances of a rise [2] with increasing work, & it is a nice country to be in & easy to get here.
You will know whether it is best to write to Mr. Ellis (the Chief Engineer) or to the Town Clerk.
I have had several tries at the Problem you sent but am floored so far.
Your affec[tiona]te Pa | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
[3]P.S.
Mr. Neale told me that the Chief Engineer has £1200 a year!
