Mr Everett has sent me from Borneo the accompanying list of mammals of Borneo & the Philippines. Wd Thomas look them over & cross out any species he thinks are not ?good; & also mark, for the Bats of Borneo and for the Mammals generally of the Philippines the species he considers to be peculiar. I want to give fairly accurate statements as to the [number of, ins] peculiar species in these islands for the new Edition of my Island Life. [list is missing].
Many thanks for corrections in the list of mammals & for kind offer of further assistance; may perhaps ask him to look over some of the proofs where references to Mammalia occur.
