My dear Prof: Oliver

Many thanks for all the things which you have done for me & for the information given.1 The plants have arrived quite safe & in two days I will set to work & then return them; I will advertise you when they are sent off. I had no intention of asking you to send me so many sp: of Utricularia, but I shall never be able to resist looking at them all. These bladders as you well know are wonderful objects.2

When Hooker returns pray thank him & accept my thanks for all these treasures

Oliver sent fragments of Utricularia nelumbifolia from the Organ Mountains, Brazil, Utricularia amethystina (Florida purple bladderwort) from Guiana, Utricularia griffithii (a synonym of Utricularia uliginosa; Asian bladderwort) from Malay and Borneo, Utricularia caerulea (blue bladderwort) from India, Utricularia orbiculata (a synonym of Utricularia striatula) from India, and Utricularia multicaulis from Sikkim, India (see Insectivorous plants, pp. 442–4).
