Warren De La Rue to Faraday   6 August 1850

110 Bunhill Row | August 6th 1850

My dear Sir

The iron core is finished1 and will be sent off as soon as the box, intended to contain it, is finished - and unless there is any thing else we can do [to] it to facilitate any experiment you may make with it should you ever have occasion to employ it. I have ordered the box to be a foot square to allow room for the spiral[;] the blocks can be cut down to make room for it.

I enclose the foremans statement of weight and dimensions.

As I found a piece of hard steel in one of the ends I had it bored out and have recess the other to correspond and have placed pins in the loose ends to facilitate putting them on - they are a very loose fit to prevent adhesion but may be readily made tight by a little piece of lamp cutter when you wish it[.]

Yours very truly | Warren De La Rue
