Faraday to James Timmins Chance   22 November 1860

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 22 Nov 1860

My dear Sir

I trust you have mine of yesterday1 - as I now have yours2[.]

I think I must come and look at the individual bands. Will next Monday do?3

You will evidently obtain more light for the Sea by the lower zones - but a very chief point is the maximum light for the horizon[.]

In diagram the lines to the four lower belts touch the cotton. Of course the parts of the flame lateral to the great or axial plane may compensate for this but I cannot well judge of that on paper. I must come & see[.]

Ever Yours | M. Faraday

J.T. Chance | &c &c &c

That is 26 November 1860.
