Robert Gordon to Faraday   18 April 18611

17 Pall Mall | Thursday morning

My Dear Sir

I received an intimation late last night that Chance’s new lamp is to be on trial to day at the Trinity House with two others –

If you have not been apprised perhaps you might like to see it - I propose being at the House at 3 o’clock -

I have wished to call upon you for some time past, but I have been so closely confined to my sofa for some weeks that I have been unable to do so -

It has been with reluctance that Stanley2 has allowed me to go to the Trinity House on Tuesday3 for a short time -

Believe me | Yours very truly | Robt Gordon

Endorsement: Could not go at such short notice M F
