Frederick Arrow to Faraday   24 September 18611

Tuesday Aft. | 24th Septr.

My dear Mr Faraday.

I propose as directed by the Board to meet you on your Inspection of the Lime Light but I find I can not leave Town before the 4.30 PM. Express Train on Thursday2. This reaches Dover soon after Seven and will give us plenty of Time to drive out to the Light and get there when in full operation after lighting. If however, you preferring Wednesday, (tomorrow) go down on that day, will you be good enough before you go to give me your Hotel at Dover and I will either meet you there or at the [South Foreland] Light House as most convenient. We have no Steamer available but if you wish it I will order the Sailing Cutter from Ramsgate to be in attendance in case you want to see the Light at a little distance[.]

I have told our Clerk to forward you the reports of the Pilot Cutters & others of last week which are to hand. And I am

Very Sincerely Yours | Fred Arrow

Dated on the basis that this letter refers to Faraday’s visit to the South Foreland discussed in letter 4070.
