Faraday to Ernst Becker   16 July 1862

The | Green | H. Court

Very many thanks My Dear Dr. Becker. Your advice was exactly what I wished for1[.]

Ever faithfully Yours | M. Faraday

16 July 1862

See letter 4199. Becker’s reply has not been found, but since there is no further discussion until December 1862 (letter 4265) of electing the Prince of Wales to be Vice-Patron of the Royal Institution this suggests that Becker’s advice was to wait until a full period of mourning (i.e. a year) for the Prince Consort had been observed.
