1Faraday to William Jackson Hooker2   14 November 1862

Royal Institution | 14 Novr. 1862.

My dear Sir William

Your great & ready kindness has indeed surprised me and I cannot sufficiently thank you for the part that touches me3. I knew that you would do any thing for the cause of Science but in this case I fear from what you say that there is but little to encourage you[.] However I am about to send your letter to Mr Cummin[s] & his friend and I am sure they will feel as grateful as I do.

With deep respects to Lady Hooker4 I am My dear Sir William | M. Faraday
