William Pigott to Faraday   12 November 18631

T House | Thursday 4 PM

My dear Faraday

Mr Daboll has reported himself ready for a hearing next Saturday or Monday and it is arranged that a committee of EB sleep at Dover on Monday night and proceed on the Iréne after breakfast on Tuesday - say if this plan suits your work. Possibly the gun & steam whistle may not be in on hand for a test but as Mr Daboll is anxious to return to America it is not reasonable to keep him here and pit his machine against others than those we have viz Holmes fog horn and the Bell. Your propositions as to the periods of sound are under consideration and will be sent Mr Daboll & the Engineer at Dungeness to morrow -

believe me ever | yours sincere friend | William Pigott

Dated on the basis that Faraday was at sea on Tuesday 17 November 1863. See letter 4406.
