Harrogate May 31st | 1864
My dear Sir,
I am extremely obliged to you for your photograph1, you have so kindly sent me, and for which I return you my best thanks.- I shall always value it very much indeed.-
I hope that the fine spring weather we have had of late, has benefited your health.-
The country about here has I think never looked so luxuriant & beautiful; as sunny and bright as the South, but with an exhilerating [sic] & renovating atmosphere peculiar to the north, or rather to Harrogate -
I hope you will not think me tiresome & presuming by repeating that my house, and my best Endeavours to Entertain you, are at your service, if you should be disposed to visit this place - I feel quite sure that a few weeks here would have a very beneficial & permanent effect upon your health, and if I should in a small degree be the means of producing that, it would give me the greatest pleasure, both now & afterwards to think of.-
I remain Dear Sir | Yours very respectfully | Richd H. Davis
