Jane Barnard to Henry Bence Jones   6 February 18651

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | Monday Morning

Dear Dr Bence Jones

I am going to add a few lines to my Uncles note2 to tell you that on Friday he became so unwell & prostrated in strength as to be unable to do any thing, indeed for a while he was almost unconscious. In consequence he went to bed & we sent down messages that his non-appearance might be accounted for. Shortly after when your note arrived my Aunt opened it & we did not shew it to him until next morning. From what Dr Gull says we feel that he should not attend the meetings3 today & if he can hear that you have returned & are likely to be here, I think he will feel glad to yield to our wishes.

I am dear Sir | Yours very sincerely | Jane Barnard

Dr B Jones
