haben wir die Ehre, für die in einigen Sendungen dem K.2 Naturalien Kabinet gütigst übermachten werthvollen Schenkungen von australischen Naturalien auch von unserer Seite den verbindlichsten Dank auszudrücken.

Wir haben seiner Zeit dem K. Ministerium des Kirchen- u. Schulwesens Bericht über diese dankwerthen Schenkungen erstattet u. es gereicht uns nun zu besonderem Vergnügen, Ihnen zu der Auszeichnung, welche Ihnen von Seiner Königlichen Majestät durch gnädigstes Verleihen des Ritterkreuzes Höchst Ihres Kronordens zu Theil geworden ist, unseren aufrichtigsten Glückwunsch aus zudrücken.3

Es ist uns nach den von Herr Dr Sonder gegebenen Mittheilungen höchst erfreulich, dass Sie, hochverehrter Herr von Müller, künftig alle Ihre Sendungen von Naturalien unserer Anstalt zufliesen lassen werden, welche die Naturgeschichte Australiens ebenso reichhaltig vertreten sollen wie wir diese aus Südafrika uns zu rühmen so glücklich sind.

Zugleich beehren wir uns über das in Aussicht gestellte Reise -Stipendium für Naturforscher unsere Freude auszudrücken u. folgen Ihren näheren Bestimmungen in dieser Hinsicht gern entgegen.

We have the honour to express our most sincere thanks also on our part for several consignments of valuable donations of Australian natural history objects kindly presented to the Royal Natural History Museum.

We have reported these meritorious gifts to the Royal Ministry for Religious and Education Affairs,5 and it is now our special pleasure to express to you our sincerest congratulations on the decoration that was presented to you by His Royal Majesty by the most gracious bestowal of His Highness' Knight's Cross of the Order of the Crown.6

It is very pleasing to us that, according to communications received from Dr Sonder,7 you, esteemed Mr von Mueller, will in future direct all your consignments of natural history objects to our institution, which are intended to represent the natural history of Australia as profusely as those from South Africa, about which we are so lucky to be able to boast.8

At the same time we have the honour to express our pleasure about the promised travel foundation for naturalists and shall be happy to act in accordance with your more detailed directions in this respect.
