Dear Norris¹

Many thanks for the [illeg.] of this letter of Mr Wallace's.

I fear that there is no probability of his being connected with Mason’s College, as M^r. Alphonse has undertaken to assist M^r Johnson in some of the general work of the Colleges, as far as possible.[2] It is grevious to send such a letter, for it is out of harmony with all my experience in the person part — for men of such merit and capable of co-operating with others have appeared to me always to succeed in this life — sooner or later, & generally soon.
