Dear Sir

On my return from the Centennial Exhibition at Philadelphia I find that Professor Ramsay1 who had undertaken to deliver one of the evening addresses at the [2] British Association meeting at Glasgow is unable to do so.

It has been suggested then that possibly although at so short a notice you might be able to assist us and to undertake one of the addresses.

[3] The British Association meets on Wednesday the 6th Sept. and the address would be [illeg.] on Friday evg the 8th or Tuesday the 12th.

Trusting you will be able to assist us.2
