Dear Sir

On my return from the Centennial Exhibition2 at Philadelphia I find that Professor Ramsay who had undertaken to deliver one of the [1 word illeg.] addresses at the [2] British Association meeting at Glasgow is unable to do so.

It has been suggested then that possibly although at so short a notice you might be able to assist us and to undertake one of the addresses.

[3] The British Association meets on Wednesday the 6th Sept[ember]. and the address would be held[?] on Friday ev[enin]g the 8th & Tuesday the 12th.

Trusting you will be able to assist us.

believe me sincerely[?] | Douglas Galton [signature]
