Sir J. D. Hooker
I enclose the list of plants "found in G[reat]. Britain and Ireland but not certainly known in continental Europe". I am sorry I have been so long sending it — but the truth is, it proved more time consuming than I could have thought.
And after all, it is not so satisfactory as one could wish though I am fairly up in it. It is about impossible without an enormous expenditure of time to assure oneself of ever pl.
It has been I hear confidently asserted that "we have nothing that Europe has not". I do not believe this at all and 'fight it' whenever I see it named. I can only hope it will be of some use to you.
Yours faithfully, Arth Bennett.
