My dear Sir

Many thanks for your kindness in sending me the list of Bermuda shells, and also for the valuable note on Geog[raphical]. Dist[ribution].

I shall be very glad indeed to learn about the lizard[?] on Bermuda from Prof. Cope², as I have not been able to find anything about it.

Do you know if anything has been published in America on the insects, beetles especially, of Bermuda. There aught to be some peculiar species.

The list of West Indian shells will be a very interesting & valuable [2] contribution to Geog[raphical]. distribution, & I hope it will soon appear.

You do not give, in your list of Bermuda shells, any other locality for Helix ventricosa Drap.³ I suppose it is not a peculiar species.

I have now nearly finished a volume on Insular Faunas and Floras⁴ — a kind of supplement to my large book⁵, and treating of many interesting matters I was not then so well prepared to discuss.
