Dear Bates

I heard last night from Robinson3 that you are duly elected to the Post4 at the Royal Geog[raphical Society]. I most heartily congratulate you on it, I hope you nicely keep it many years & not find it very hard work.

Do not forget to send me two or three tickets for your lecture at the Horticultural [Society of London]5.

There is a proposal of an [2] Entomological6 dinner[?] to Mr Saunders7 this year. A meeting will be held at the Society’s Rooms on Monday at 4.pm. Can you come?

Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
